Parigna Desai was born and raised in Mumbai, India, where she developed an early interest in visual arts and Indian classical dance. She holds a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design (2015) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Material Futures from Central Saint Martins (2023).
After gaining experience through internships and industry roles beginning in 2012, she became increasingly aware of systemic issues within apparel production. In 2016, she returned to India to better understand and engage with the local production ecosystem.
Her current service-based practice, Pari Pari Studio, focuses on research, design, and product development for fashion and home, with an emphasis on indigenous techniques and materials while supporting the communities connected to them. Working at the intersection of tradition and innovation, Parigna advocates for the continuity of low-tech, handmade processes and for nurturing a reciprocal relationship with nature and our surroundings.
